Spline drive lug nuts use a small-diameter body turned by a splined key instead of a hex socket, and they exist to solve a real fitment problem: aftermarket wheels with narrow lug pockets that a standard socket will not clear. The slim profile lets the nut sit fully in the pocket and seat properly on its 60-degree taper, so you get full clamping force instead of a nut hanging on the edge of the hole. These sets ship with the key in 12x1.5 and 12x1.25 thread pitches in boxes of 16 and 20, and replacement keys are sold separately because that key is the one part you cannot improvise if it walks off in the shop. Black finish keeps them discreet behind machined and beadlock wheels. Two notes worth following: check that your wheel actually uses a 60-degree tapered seat before ordering, and keep the key square in the splines when torquing so you do not round it out. As always, torque in a star pattern and re-check after the first ride. Order the box with the key so a lost key never ends a ride.
