Description
Two extra links doesn’t sound like much, but on a bike with a slightly longer swingarm or a sprocket size change it’s the difference between a chain that fits and one that doesn’t, which is why Renthal offers the R4 SRS Road chain in this 122-link length. It’s a sealed-ring chain built around Renthal’s Self Regulating Seal (SRS) technology, which is engineered to increase service life well beyond a standard O-ring or X-ring chain in road use.
Engineering behind the R4:
- SRS ring is pre-loaded during assembly, creating a spring effect that keeps sealing pressure consistent as the chain wears
- Traps specially formulated grease around the pin and bushing area longer while keeping dirt, water, and contaminants out
- SRS technology improves chain flexibility and gives smoother operation than a standard O-ring chain
- Larger diameter pins made from enhanced alloy steel resist shock loads and wear
- Quad riveting process on each pin adds tensile strength
- Thicker inner and outer plates improve fatigue life, with gold-anodized side plates for corrosion resistance
- 525 pitch, 122-link length
The 122-link count is aimed at bikes running slightly longer chain runs than the standard 120-link 525 setup, often after a rear sprocket swap. Confirm 525 pitch and the 122-link count against your bike’s factory chain before ordering, since a mismatch means running a master link splice that Renthal doesn’t recommend for performance use. IPD Racing stocks the R4 as a direct upgrade for riders replacing a stretched stock chain or building out a full drivetrain refresh.
