Description
Stock handlebars flex where they should not and stay rigid where a rider actually needs give, which is exactly the problem ProTaper set out to fix with the EVO line. The EVO SX Race bend in Magnesium is built for riders who spend most of their time on stadium-style tracks and tight, whooped-out supercross layouts where every jolt travels straight from the front wheel into your wrists. Because the EVO is ProTaper’s flagship unbraced design, the crossbar is left open rather than gusseted, letting the whole bar work as a single flexing unit instead of a rigid triangle. That difference shows up almost immediately in less forearm pump and a calmer front end through braking bumps.
What makes it different
- 7000 series aluminum alloy construction, computer-profiled with a 4mm wall thickness
- Up to 25% lighter and 45% stronger than competing conventional handlebars
- Unbraced flex geometry absorbs impact instead of transmitting it straight to the rider
- Independent lab testing puts EVO fatigue life ahead of every other handlebar on the market
- Magnesium anodized finish gives a distinct, premium look next to standard black bars
This is the SX Race bend specifically, so expect a supercross-oriented sweep and height rather than a taller woods setup. It bolts straight into any standard 1-1/8 in. clamp setup using your existing hardware, and because it is a genuine ProTaper part it carries the manufacturer’s own warranty. If you race regularly and go through bars, keeping a spare EVO SX Race on the shelf means you are never sidelined waiting on freight after a get-off.
