Glue and safety wire are fine right up until you need to swap grips at the track with ten minutes before your moto, which is the whole reason the ProTaper Clamp-On Pillow Top grip exists. This Black/Gray version uses a clamping collar instead of adhesive, so changing grips becomes a two-minute job with an Allen wrench instead of a scraping session.
Underneath the clamp system is the same pillow top comfort profile ProTaper is known for. A super-slim, windowed core on the clutch side trims down the outer grip diameter and opens up relief areas for your palm and fingertips, which cuts vibration transfer noticeably compared to a solid-core design. The surface itself is an extra-supple, tacky compound molded straight to that inner core for a seamless feel, while a firmer compound reinforces the flange and end cap so a tip-over does not chew through the grip on day one.
