The SE series is ProTaper's standard-diameter bar, built from a stronger aluminum alloy than most factory bars and reinforced with a crossbar, so it holds its shape through crashes that would fold an original. The Carmichael bend itself is on the lower side with a generous sweep, drawing the rider's chest down and forward over the front wheel. That extra front-end weight bias is what makes the difference in flat, blown-out corners where the front tire wants to wash out, and it also suits shorter riders who feel stretched and unstable on a high bar.
